Updates

What's new on Quad

Every update, newest first. You are on v2.14.2.

  1. v2.14.2

Buzz links open Buzz signed in, without asking

  2. v2.14.1

Opening Buzz signs you in there quietly when Quad already has you

  3. v2.14.0

Signed in on one, signed in on both

If you are signed in on Buzz, opening Quad signs you in as the same account, and the other way round. You might see a quick blink while it checks. Log out on purpose and it stays logged out.

  4. v2.13.1

    Fixes and small changes

  5. v2.13.0

    Quad and Buzz, closer together

Signed in, Open Buzz takes you straight in as you, no second log-in. Today’s Buzz poll is on the home page, so you can vote without leaving, and people who post on Buzz now carry a little Buzz tag by their name.

  6. v2.12.2

Big screens get the whole screen

  7. v2.12.1

A calmer top bar, and the Clout gem at its proper size

  8. v2.12.0

    Clout is on Quad

The purple gem in the top bar is your Clout, the same wallet as on Buzz. Earn 20 a day just for visiting and 5 for every game you play for the first time, then spend it on a new look for Quad. Clout can never be bought with money.

  9. v2.11.3

    Fixes and small changes

  10. v2.11.2

A tidier games page: Jump back in, Saved and Play with a friend are buttons now

  11. v2.11.1

Every update in one place: tap the version number in the top bar

  12. v2.11.0

    The board is now Buzz

The board has closed. Buzz, the student feed, does what it did and more, and your Quad account works there. The newest posts from Buzz now show on the home page, and Buzz has its own button in the top bar.

  13. v2.10.6

    Fixes and small changes

  14. v2.10.5

    Fixes and small changes

  15. v2.10.4

    Fixes and small changes

  16. v2.10.3

    Fixes and small changes

  17. v2.10.2

    Fixes and small changes

  18. v2.10.1

    Fixes and small changes

  19. v2.10.0

A new look, and dark mode follows your computer

Quad is lighter and cleaner: white cards, new type, a red Hide button you cannot miss. It now matches your computer’s light or dark setting, and the moon button in the top bar switches it. Settings has a third choice, Device, to go back to following the computer.

  20. v2.9.0

Three new games, and Papa’s works at school

Rolly Vortex, Burnout Drift Hunter and Mini Zombie Shooters replace three games school filters kept blocking. The four Papa’s games, Armed Forces.io and Poop Clicker now load from copies school filters usually let through.

  21. v2.8.1

WorldGuessr is off the Play with a friend row, because its school copy is blocked

  22. v2.8.0

    Play with a friend

A new row on the games page: Smash Karts gives you a room code to share, so a friend can join from their own Chromebook. Seventeen more are two players on one keyboard.

  23. v2.7.1

    Ask answers again

  24. v2.7.0

Five new games in place of blocked ones

Clicker Heroes, Backrooms 3D, CraftMine, Dreadhead Parkour and Death Run 3D replace five games school filters kept blocking. Every game on Quad now has a copy that loads at school.

  25. v2.6.2

51 blocked games work at school again

Most of the games tagged May be blocked now load from a copy school filters let through, and the tag is gone from their tiles. Papa's games, Baldi's Basics, Drift King and Tetris are among them.

  26. v2.6.1

33 games stop loading their blocked copy when a working one exists

  27. v2.6.0

See which games are blocked before you click

Games that school filters usually block now say May be blocked on their tile, so you can skip them. If you hit one that is blocked, press Blocked? on the game page and it gets a Reported blocked tag for everybody else.

  28. v2.5.1

Moving between the spaces is quicker

  29. v2.5.0

20 more games, and logging in is no longer a trap

Two hundred games now — tank battles, tower defence, Super Smash Flash 2, and a globe-guessing one. The account page also opens on Log in instead of Make an account, so getting back in is not a puzzle any more, and typing a name that already exists puts you on the log-in form instead of an error. Moving between the four spaces fades now, too, instead of flashing white.

  30. v2.4.0

YouTube keeps playing when you switch tabs

Music no longer stops dead the moment you look at another tab — the next video starts on its own, like it should have all along. What plays next is what actually goes with the video now, not the next search result, so a song is not followed by the same song by somebody else. There is an Up next list down the side you can see and pick from, and the usual keys work: space to pause, J and L to skip, F for fullscreen.

  31. v2.3.1

The page stops bouncing at the top and the bottom

  32. v2.3.0

YouTube opens on something to watch

The video page used to be a search box on an empty screen. It now opens on rows of videos by subject, and the subjects change with the day. Ask has its chats down the left as well, so a conversation from last week is one click away instead of behind a button.

  33. v2.2.1

The v2.0.0 news card stops talking down the site

  34. v2.2.0

    Ten more games

Five Nights at Freddy’s, Kingdom Rush Frontiers, Doom 2D, Gold Miner, Cactus McCoy, Swords and Souls, Learn to Fly, Interactive Buddy, Head Basketball, Madalin Stunt Cars Pro and the Watermelon Game. That is 180 in total.

  35. v2.1.1

A QA pass before going live. The first two were serious

  36. v2.1.0

Quad opens on a proper home page now

Instead of dropping you straight into the games, there are four big buttons — Games, YouTube, Ask and the board. Whatever you played last sits right under them, so getting back into a game is still one tap.

  37. v2.0.0

Messages are gone. Quad is four things now.

Chat, friends and streaks have been removed. Quad is four things now: games, YouTube, Ask and the board — and the board is where people talk. One page everybody shares, with a Report and a Hide on every post. Every game also has a Copy link, so you can send one straight to somebody.

  38. v1.21.0

    Hide properly hides now

Hide used to only cover the screen — the page was still underneath, and one press of Tab pulled it back into view. Everything behind the cover is switched off now, so there is nothing to tab back into. The games page also opens about twice as fast.

  39. v1.20.2

    Fixes and small changes

  40. v1.20.1

Picking a video plays that video. The queue is run by the page now, not by YouTube

  41. v1.20.0

    Videos keep going

Pick something off the search results and the rest of them play after it, one straight into the next, instead of stopping dead on YouTube’s wall of suggestions. The line under the player tells you what is coming.

  42. v1.19.1

The daily AI budget follows where the usage actually went

  43. v1.19.0

    Ask picks for you now

Removed the model switcher on Ask. Every question goes to the quick model first, on its own, which stretches everybody’s shared daily AI further. It still steps up to the smarter model automatically on the rare day the quick one runs dry.

  44. v1.18.0

Humanize, a second tab on Ask

  45. v1.17.0

Tap a name to open a profile, and the popout points at something real

  46. v1.16.0

The board reads for everyone, and friend requests actually reach the other person

  47. v1.15.0

    The board

A fifth space, next to Ask in the bar at the top. One page the whole site shares: post something with your name on it, react to what is up, and reply underneath. It is the first thing on Quad that strangers can read, so there is a Report on every post and every reply.

  48. v1.14.0

    The board

  49. v1.13.4

    Fixes and small changes

  50. v1.13.3

The top ten was empty for a reason, and it was my fault

  51. v1.13.2

The top ten is on the front page

  52. v1.13.1

The top ten is ranked on games now, not streaks

  53. v1.13.0

    A public top ten

  54. v1.12.1

The 24 drawn shapes are gone

  55. v1.12.0

26 photographs to pick from, and you choose the square

  56. v1.11.2

The flame is an actual flame

  57. v1.11.1

The questions-left number was counting up

  58. v1.11.0

    The Enter key works

  59. v1.10.2

Quad stopped spending its whole day's storage budget on nothing

  60. v1.10.1

Nothing on the site is written with a long dash any more
